SBA announces entrepreneurship courses available to veterans this summer

June 12, 2014

For veterans interested in making the leap into small business ownership, there's an opportunity to receive training courses from the Small Business Administration (SBA) this summer. The SBA recently announced that it will be hosting entrepreneurship training courses for veterans in twelve cities across the country.

Boots to Business: Reboot is an entrepreneurship training course designed to inform veterans about business ownership. The courses, led by industry experts from the Institute for Veteran and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University, and SBA Resource Partners, will give up to 100 veterans the chance to attend an introductory class about entrepreneurship. The courses are scheduled to run from July 11-August 26, with the first event starting at the White House on July 11.

The two-day course will provide information on essential business elements, like developing a business plan and evaluating business concepts, according to a SBA press release. Veterans that attend the course will also be eligible to register for an eight-week online course from the IVMF called "Foundations of Entrepreneurship." This course will provide in-depth instruction about starting and running a business, and veterans that attend Boots to Business: Reboot will be able to register for it after this course.

Veterans make great candidates to be small business owners. With skills like leadership and discipline, veterans are equipped with what it takes to run a business. For veterans looking for an alternative to finding employment after reentering civilian life, starting a business is a great option and courses from the SBA can help them get started.

CorpCo recognizes that veterans are uniquely suited to starting their own companies. From learning about the benefits of incorporation, to incorporating your business, an online incorporation services company is a great resource for veterans transitioning to small business ownership.

We are also proud supporters of Syracuse University's Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV) and V-WISE, a program that supports female veterans.
