Nominations for 2015 National Small Business Week Awards now open

Previously this blog has discussed the impact that small business owners can have on their own lives as well as the lives of those around them. Small businesses are an integral part of our nation's economy, and as such, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recognizes their importance and also provides resources for those looking to start a business or continue building an existing one.

Recently, the SBA announced that it is going to begin accepting nominations for the 2015 National Small Business Week Awards. National Small Business Week has been taking place since 1963, when it was first established to recognize American small businesses for their contributions and achievements, according to an official press release. 

If you are interested in submitting a nomination, you can do so online by following this link. The categories for the 2015 awards are as follows:

  • Small Business Person of the Year
  • Small Business Exporter of the Year
  • Phoenix Award for Small Business Disaster Recovery
  • Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery
  • Federal Procurement Award – Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year Award
  • Federal Procurement Award – Small Business Subcontractor of the Year Award
  • Federal Procurement Award – Dwight D. Eisenhower Award for Excellence
  • 8(a) Graduate of the Year Award
  • Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award
  • Veterans Business Outreach Center Excellence in Service Award
  • Women's Business Center of Excellence Award

You can also submit a nomination by mail. All nominations must be received prior to January 5, 2015.
